The Rig alignment is operated semi automatically.
Optical defaults are corrected in real time.
Multi Axes
3D rigs are specifically designed for multi camera shoots.
They can be simultaneously remotely operated.
Consistency of the 3D
On a screen, a horizontal offset between two similar images creates a three dimensional perception. The offset value depends on a subjective decision as well as well defined optical rules.
Any other offset between the two pictures introduces aberration in the three dimensional perception and annoyance for the viewer .
After adjustment settings have been locked in by a stereographer, Total Control is capable of automatically calculating in real time inter axial base and convergence offset accounting for focal length, focus and iris.
Total Control constantly and in real time re calculates all the 3D parameters accounting for optical data.
Under the rules of its settings, Total Control adjusts all 3D parameters automatically allowing the camera operator to shoot as he is used to.
ContactSimplified alignement
Total Control’s carbon and aluminium structure design forbids all unwanted mechanical play for perfect alignement .
Two zoom lenses are never truly identical . Total Control uses a proprietary communication protocol designed with lenses manufacturer which enables it to drive all lens functions with accuracy and match perfectly two zoom lenses.
Total Control uses custom made focus and zoom remote drive units. Outbound focus and zoom position data are processed in real time by the onboard computer which overlays the offset correction values needed for lens matching.
Total Control’s operator can execute an auto alignment procedure en just a few minutes.
For Rig alignment, an electronic image processor outputs all offset data from the two cameras to Total Control’s onboard computer. Images can be offset horizontally, vertically, in scale and in rotation. The computer receives all offset data and memorises all the offset correction values needed for lens matching
All offset data are memorised and ready to be used as correction values in just a few minutes.
Total Control mechanically corrects all lenses telecentricity defaults in real time through the entire zoom range.
ContactMulti Axes
All multi camera shoots have one common singularity: objects can be recorded simultaneously from different view points.
A 3D multi camera shoot needs the three dimensional perception of all the objects to be consistent together regardless of viewpoint . Depending on foreground and background elements, every camera position needs to set its own 3D parameters to stay consistent with one another. Each Total Control Rig memorises its individual 3D settings and adds them to its own mathematical algorithm. All Total Control Rigs are link to the OB Van. A remote control panel (RCP) enables the stereographer to modify any and every 3D parameters on one or several rigs in real time.
The mathematical algorithms computed by Total Control enable all camera positions to apply similar rules making 3D perception consistent from shot to shot.

When shooting live, 2D or 3D, corrections may be needed at any moment:
On a 3D shoot, 3D parameters may need adjustments, rig alignment may need tuning...
On a 3D broadcast shoot, the OB Van is the command centre.
Total Control’s new functions are specifically designed to anticipate and resolve issues on the fly, from the OB Van.
Microfilms’ new RCP 3D allows access to all Rig’s new functions from the OB Van via network:
- Full lens control including zoom, focus and iris
- Telecentricity corrections, auto alignment procedures and zoom scale matching in manual or auto mode
- Live correction of vertical disparity in manual or auto mode
- Live access to all 3D parameters in manual or automatic mode
