ROLAND GARROS 2012
Once again this year, Orange will air the « Roland Garros » French Open in 3D as it did in 2010 and 2011.
Euromedia produces the 3D 2012 edition and chooses to deploy its recently acquired Microfilms Rigs.
All the latest Total Control II functions and evolutions are being used on this one.
Not only the new Microfilms RCP 3D allow remote rig alignment, they can also drive base, convergence, zoom, focus and iris from the OB Van.
All telecentricity corrections applied by the Rigs are verified in real time by an Image Analyzer and corrected automatically when needed.
With temperature shift, swirling winds and red clay dust, the Philippe-Chatrier tennis court is one hostile environment for the Rigs fine mechanical parts.
The new “3D live” functions warrant a constant and perfect alignment even in the worst conditions.
Microfilms’ Rigs are now compatible with Microfilms’ c-box, Stereolabs’ PURE and Sony’s MPE-200.
The event is also aired on Eurosport 3D, one of BskyB 3D channel, the British satellite Broadcaster, who recently admitted keeping a close watch on Microfilms evolutions in 3D.
